INTERVIEW WITH UTKRASH SARDESAI INCUBATOR ADVISOR

Why did you choose to work on this project?

I’ll give you an insight. I have interacted with many startups and their founding teams. Out of over a hundred that I have worked with, I barely see any strength in the team and their ability to deliver. Just 2%-5% check all the right boxes for a startup.

And I saw that Accomac checks all of them. So, it was an easy choice for me because I knew which ones not to pick.

I barely feel like I’m going to miss out on something. But with Accomac, I knew I would be missing out if I did not work on this project. It’s all good here.

How do you balance work and your life commitments?

I have a very simple approach. Instead of chasing money, I chase free time. My first step was to figure out how to work less and still earn the same amount of money. It took 3 years but I figured it out.

Now, I keep chasing free time, so I have de facto the opposite. I have to constantly decide how to fill that time so that the balance is maintained. How I was able to leave the rat race is my secret.

You have been dedicated to taking care of your grandpa, is that right?

I have an uncle and my father who take care of my grandparents. I help when they are not available.

What sets this project apart and makes you get involved?

  1. The founders do not burn money. Effective and profitable operations are the focus, which is a big green signal for investors.
  2. Work gets done, sooner or later.
  3. The product made has an actual problem to solve, affordability.
This alone is missing in 90% of startups today.

Describe a difficulty you’ve had in the past locating investors and having a limited budget and how did you overcome it?

Locating investors is the easy part. The difficulty is in getting them interested. I present smart projects. There my clients and my reputation is the important aspect.  It is even more essential to be consistent and patient. And that is why it is difficult. I just keep searching and reaching out.

How do you handle difficult circumstances?

I try to remove the emotions, see the possible things under my control that can be changed, and then consider their impact on others’ emotions to a certain extent before making the final choice.

What’s your hobby or what do you do to relax?

I like to work out, motivate other people, and go on treks once in a while.
